అరుంధతి రివ్యూ (Review of Arundhati Movie)

దయ్యాలు ఉంటాయా ఉండవా అనే విషయాన్ని పక్కకు పెడితే వినోద పరంగా ఈ సినిమాకి మంచి మార్కులే ఇవ్వచ్చు. ఎవ్వరు కూడా సినిమాకి వెళ్లి చూడడం ద్వారా దయ్యాలు ఉంటాయి, ఉండవని నిర్నయించుకోరు. అంటే, దయ్యాలు ఉంటాయని నమ్మని వారు ఈ సినిమా చుసిన తర్వాత ఉంటాయని నమ్మే అవకాశం లేదు. అలాగే నమ్మేవారు కొత్తగా ఎక్కువ నమ్మేదేమీ ఉండదు. అయితే ఒకవేళ దయ్యాలు ఉంటే ఎలా వుంటుందన్న దానిమీద ఈ సినిమా ఎంత బాగా ఫోకస్ చేసిందన్న విషయం మాత్రమె చూడాలి.

ఎనభై సంవత్సరాల క్రితం గద్వాల రాణి ఒక మనిషిని (అంటే మాంత్రికుడిని) సజీవ సమాధి చేసి, అతని ప్రేతాత్మ కూడా బయటికి రాకుండా దిగ్బంధనం చేయిస్తుంది. అయిన కూడా ఆ సమాధి లోనుంచే అతని ప్రేతాత్మ తన ప్రభావం చూపకుండా ఆపలేక పోతుంది (విచిత్రం). చివరికి అతని ప్రేతాత్మని కూడా నాశనం చేయాలని నిశ్చయం చేసుకుని, పరిశోధిస్తుంది. (ప్రేతాత్మలు ఎలా నాశనమవుతాయో తెలియదు! అసలు నాశనం లేనిదే కదా ఆత్మ! బహుశా ఆత్మ, ప్రేతాత్మలుగా పునర్విభజన చేశారేమో). చివరికి రహస్యం తెలుసుకుంటుంది. తాను మరణించి పునర్జన్మించి ఆ ప్రేతాత్మని ఆకర్షించి అది ఒక మనిషిని ఆవహించి తన దగ్గరికి వచ్చినప్పుడు (ఎందుకంటే ప్రేతాత్మలకు దేహం ఉండదు కాబట్టి) తన పూర్వపు దేహంలోని ఎముకలతో తయారు చేసిన ఆయుధం (వజ్రాయుధం లాంటిది) తో, అది కూడా తన (ప్రస్తుత) రక్తంలో ముంచి సంహరించినపుడు మాత్రమే అతనికి మరణం ఉంటుందని తెలుసుకుంటుంది. తదుపరి కథ అంతా దాని ఆచరణ మాత్రమే.

ముందే అనుకున్నట్టుగా దయ్యాల ఉనికి విషయంపై నేను చర్చించ దలుచుకో లేదు. పశుపతిగా, ప్రేతాత్మగా సొనుసూద్, జేజమ్మగా, అరుంధతిగా అనుష్క అద్భుతంగా నటించారు. కంప్యూటర్ గ్రాఫిక్స్ అపూర్వం (టాలీవుడ్లో). కథా పరంగా మరికొన్ని జాగ్రత్తలు తీసుకొని వుంటే బాగుండేది. వేరేమనిషిని ఆవహించిన ఆత్మ మనిషి రూపాన్ని ఎలా మారుస్తుంది? బహుశ సోనూసూద్ ని మళ్లీ చూపడానికి అయుంటుంది.

భీభత్స రసాన్ని సినిమా అంతటా బాగా రక్తి కట్టించారు. షియాజీ షిండే, మనోరమ, ఇతరుల నటన కూడా ఆకట్టుకునేలా వుంది. సోనూ సూద్ పాత్రకు డబ్బింగ్ చెప్పిన జయశంకర్ బాగా ఆకట్టుకున్నాడు. కోటి సంగీతం వల్ల మరింత హారర్ ఎఫెక్ట్ వచ్చింది. ఈ సినిమాకి వచ్చే వారంతా ఈరకమైన థ్రిల్ కోసమే వస్తారు కాబట్టి బాగానే ఎంజాయ్ చేస్తారు.

Belief, that is the supreme evil.

I think the beliefs people firmly have are root of all evils. A person who believes in god is equally same as a person who firmly 'believes' that god is not existed. these people think that what they think is only has truth. And they condemn every other statement as false. This kind of a thinking is the root cause for all evils in the world. These people think that they can change the minds of people in tune with their thinking. They also think that the truth is something really existed in the world and that remains truth for ever. But in fact truth changes always, all times. What we thought as false in the last century is a truth in this century. And also what we are thinking as a false today may become truth in the next century.

What I want to make as my point is that actually it is useless to argue about God. There are hundreds of theories in the world about God. each religion depicts God in its own way. Unless we define God as somebody in the first place, we can not argue about his existence or non-existence.

Gurukul Trust

Today morning when I was casually moving through television channels, a story was attracted me and made me view it completely. Generally I never view a programme completely.

During Nizam's era a great philanthropist and arya samaj activist ( I do not remember the name but I will surely update in future) built a gurukul (a residential school which educates poor people). He used to go to the villages and ask the poor people to give their children to him so that he would educate them and make good citizens. He devoted all his life devoted to social service. He got 625 acres of land as a dowry offer by his father-in-law. But he refused the dowry but still this father-in-law registered the land on the name of Gurukul Trust he was running. Now the land alone is worth Rs 6000 Crores. But the descendants of the saintly man are in poverty stricken. The trusty members and politicians are openly selling and encroaching these lands. The fore runner is Mr YS Vivekananada Reddy with his sprawling building in the encroached land with all documents like power connection, water connection in tact with older dates backed to 6-7 years where the Google earth is telling that there was no building constructed 2 years earlier.

It is very disturbing to see that the land belonged to a great unselfish soul and meant for a great cause is now in the hands of hooligans. It seems that the middles ages with a lot of blood and sin were much more better than the days which we are witnessing now. It is astounding to see that these people so openly take the share of the kill with no shame. Instead of feeling guilt they are feeling proud!

I am more concerned on the fact that they have taken the people for granted. They never care about what people think about them. They know pretty well that on the election day the people again vote them. If not in this election, they will definitely vote them in the coming election. (The people would have been vexed up by their counter parts by that time). We can not expect a different result when the people are casting their votes by taking 500 notes and whisky bottles. The people who do not want these things are not voting at all. If the voting is done in selfless manner, we can expect leaders of quality. Till then...

Hyderabad Blasts

On 25.08.2007 there were serial blasts in Hyderabad. First one at Lumbini park laser show and the next one at Gokul Chat, Koti. At least 43 people were dead and many more were injured. Gokul Chat, which is situated right in the center of Hyderabad city, no ambulance was available to take the victims to hospital. After waiting for an hour, people stopped an APSRTC bus and shifted the injured to hospital. The bus performed the duty of ambulance in emergency. Irony is that the very people stoned the bus earlier in protest to the blasts (and many other buses also). Among the dead were people who represent all the country. There were Hindus as well as Muslims. People from all over India, north and south alike.

Hyderabad is panic stricken now, with the blasts. I used to eat cutlet and other fast foods in Gokul Chat right from my college days. I never expected the blasts to happen in Gokul Chat. I would have least surprised if the blasts were to happen in a temple or in a masjid. In a Theater or in a Shopping Mall, considering the prevailing terrorism in the state. I think the attack on Gokul Chat is a direct attack on Hyderabadi culture.

Political parties immediately started blaming one another. State Government blamed ISI to be responsible for the blasts. Central Government said there were no connections found yet with ISI or Pakistan, a more balanced statement. BJP said it is because the UPA government has scrapped the infamous POTA act and all such things are happening. They say this is done by Muslim fundamentalists. TDP says the chief minister is responsible and he should immediately resign. There were also certain comments heard to be saying that this is done by Hindu fundamentalists. They argue 'agar muslim hain to kyon Mecca Masjid mein bhi bomb lagate?'. That is also a question to be answered.

In my view, it is all because of the one word, fundamentalism. Because of that only all these evils. It is always wrong to choose extremes. May it be Hinduism, Sikhism, Islam or any thing else. May it be a political faith like communism. Fundamentalist always believes that his views are only the ultimate truth and he can not see any other way of thinking. And therefore he tries to force his views on others by any means he feels just. His ultimate goal is to make the people believe in what he believes and to eradicate the people the who do not have faith in his words.

Never stick yourself to extreme ends. If you choose the middle path, you will find several solutions for the problems. You will start accepting others' beliefs to be as valid as yours. All faiths seem to be one and the same. People of different communities, nationalities, faiths look like our own intimate relatives!

Govt Arrogance

Banning of blog sites is a step newly taken by IndianGovernement in order to contain Islamic terrorism. But after the ban only I am able to post this blog. I am also able to view all blogs. In fact now after ban, I concentrated only on Islamic blogs! Now I wonder whether the Governement is indirectly encouraging these blogs! People will naturally tend to view these blogs as to know the reason for banning these blogs.

To my surprise I found that the islamic blogs I visited are not only decent but very informative about islamic art and culture. I could find no such blog that is encouraging terrorism. Not that I am saying there are none, but I only say that they are very few compared to the huge quantity of harmless blogs already existing.

I also wonder why the Governement should fear about these blogs. Is it believing that people are so unintelligent that they will be converted into terrorists by seeing these blogs? Or is it believing that the blogs are a mode of communication for terrorists? If so, it should ban entire world wide web, not just blogs. In fact it should ban computers, cell phones, land phones..... every mode of communication on earth. Because there are millions of ways to communicate than just blogging!

Banning the blogs, the Governement is doing more harm than any good.It is Inducing hatred among people. It is shutting down voices of millions of innocent people. It is taking away the freedom of speech from its citizens. I am not a regular blogger till now. But in order to protest this act of arrogance by the Governement, I swear to view and maintain blogs regularly.

The Davinci Code

Recently I have read the novel The Davinci Code. It has been one fo my brain storming subjects then onwards. The film has been released world wide including India, but not in Hyderabad, my city. Few christian fanatics were able to stop the release though the film has been cleared in censor board and through court clearance. A novel which has been sold 60000 copies and released in all major christian populated countries has been found objectionable to be released in Hyderabad where christian population is only 8%.

I am not a theist. But I don't say I am an atheist either. When I am not 100 percent sure on one subject I don't stick to a particular dogma. But this much I can say. A person named Jesus Christ would have been existed in those times. He must have been a very saintly man... who can influence commons and the privileged as well. In those days violence is very common. People must have vexed up with violence which they see every day. They obviously were seeing for a leader who openly shunned violence.

They found him in the name of Jesus Christ! They have been attracted to his teachings.

In the Bible we clearly see that the Jesus condemned existing religion in those times and ethics which are leading to exploitation and violence. That made the ruling class get angry on Christ. On the day when Christ was arrested, he was hiding in a remote place. The soldiers doesn't even know who is Jesus Christ. They took the help of Judas in identifying Jesus. What is implied with this? It was clearly told that Jesus' activity is not completely open. He must have obviously running his campaign from under ground. People have patronised him... no doubt about it. But his activity was never granted openly by the authorities.

We also know by the Bible that even after death, the disciples were in doubt about the holiness of christ. That clearly means that they never treated him as a Holy Man when he was alive. They treated him as a Guru and respected him no doubt. But not as a 'Divine Person'. After death of christ soldiers come and enquire about Christ's followers. They even arrest few of the disciples. But St Peter, one of the most revered diciple of all, lies that he was a follower. Later, after his death, slowly there was a public opinion building about the need for change. Sensing on that, the disciples or followers who ever they are, started a very big campaign which ultimately became a religion. Bowing to their patronage, the mighty Roman empire had nothing to do but joined in the main stream. But while doing that, the king Constantine has done a clever mischief in constituting the religion. The original preachings of Christ were modified where they are objectionable to the Raj. They kept other things as they are.

That is the reason, they have hidden the gospels by Magdelene Mary, Judas etc. Which contain certain issues which are giving scope for questioning the Godliness of Jesus Christ.

This we see everywhere. Irrespective of region in every religion. People make great men into gods or sons of god. I recently visited Shirdi where thousands of devotees visit every day to take darshan of Sai Baba . To my surprise, the so called temple of Sai Baba at Shirdi is nothing but a museum of his things! I have seen his kitchen, room, oven, a stone on which he used to sit, and a neem tree underneath which he used to preach public.

Everyone in India knows what Sai Baba preached! He preached all his lifetime that God is one. He went to temple and masjid alike. Even we can see a masjid at Shirdi temple, though it is no more used by muslims. But now he was made a Hindu God! One may not wonder if Jesus Christ and Allah are also made hindu gods one day by these Hindus. Having listed a lot of miracles to his credit, Hindu brahmins perform puja like every other Hindu temple reciting Sanskrit slokas! If you go out to public and try to tell them that Sai Baba was not a God but he was just a man like you and me, people will hang you!

The people who lived during the time of Sai Baba might have built a memorium as a tribute to his noble deeds. Latter it has become a real Hindu temple with brahmin priests.... who once shunned him.... as the stories tell.

Sai Baba went to a Hindu disciple and Muslim disciple and ate whatever they gave for meal. He was obviously a non-vegetarian. But now his disciples practice Vegetarianism, at least on thursday.

With this example, we can easily understand how Jesus became Christ!
